Chung-yong is back to fitness for Bolton this season after being restricted to just two appearances last term due to a broken leg.
The South Korean had been one of Bolton's most consistent performers after arriving at the Reebok Stadium in 2009 and he has regularly been linked with other clubs.
It is understood that manager Dougie Freedman's resolve to keep the 24-year-old could be tested before next Thursday's transfer deadline.
Liverpool and Stoke City have long been mooted as admirers of Chung-yong and Sky Sports are reporting that the Premier League duo retain an interest in the wideman.
And there is every expectation that one of those clubs will make a bid for Chung-yong in the final week of the January window.
